Thank you!

Unfortunately, we were not chosen “Best Local Blog” in The Austin Chronicle’s 20th Anniversary Best Of Poll.  That honor went to The Austinist for the second year in a row, I believe.  So, congrats out to them.

Now, I’ve only seen the online results which were released yesterday, September 3, 2009.  See the results here.  I haven’t had a chance to pick up my own physical copy.  Hopefully, I can still pick one up and they won’t go so quickly.

I wanted to say Thank You to all popolio.com supporters and to those who voted for us.  Also, to J.W. RichardMandrake Arts & Media, and Mandrake Soceity Radio for providing a foundation and continued support.   All I can say is, there’s always next year.  I did think of us as a bit of a dark horse just because we haven’t even been around a year, yet.

Our birthday is right around the corner, though, and it’s officially on September 15, 2009, but, remember, we’re celebrating with our One Year Anniversary Mixer on the 19th.  Don’t forget the celebration of Mandrake Society Radio’s 5th Season the next day in Dallas.

Again, thanks to all.  I  hope you continue to enjoy popolio and hope you stick with us through Year 2.

Sincerely,

freddie beat

The polls closed last Tuesday.  I wanted to thank everyone who heard about this through all the various outlets we reached out to and who may have voted for popolio.com. So, a big THANK YOU goes out to all those clandestine supporters and midnight marauders we may not know we have from popolio and Mandrake Society Radio — the Mandrake Arts & Media family.  Fingers crossed.  According to The Austin Chronicle website, the results won’t be revealed until September 4th.  So, now we sit and wait and the work continues…

July 16, 2009 UPDATE:  Less than a week left.  Please vote for popolio.com.

So, popolio.com has not even been around a year.  We debuted on September 15, 2008, and I’m not sure the greater Austin population even knows we exist, YET.  But, I figured, “What the hey?”  Let’s try this.  One, I have nothing to lose, and, two, I  just want to see where this takes us.

I recently saw Milk on DVD and I’m inspired by Harvey Milk’s determination and resilience.  So, maybe we won’t make the mark this year, but you never know if you don’t try and if you don’t take that first step, right?  That fist step may lead, ultimately, to final victory.  I know his deal was politics and more serious, but, this blog is my passion and music makes the world go ’round.

So, vote for us and write us into The Austin Chronicle’s Best Of 2009 in the ‘Media Section’  as the “best local blog” here or mail in a ballot from last week’s edition or any upcoming editions until the deadline.  According to the rules, ballots must be submitted online by Tuesday, July 21, 2009, and only one mail or web ballot per person is allowed.  Click the link or logo above for more details on the rules and to vote.
